Well, we made it to Johannesburg after a very long flight. But it was not nearly as long as the two back to back overnight flights that OAT scheduled us on. We got our own airfare and boy, was it worth it! We even got bulkhead seats as they asked us to switch to those since a family needed to sit together. Twist our arms! So we had nice legroom. We did not get off in Dakar, the plane stopped to refuel and all the security and all was done onboard. So that was new experience and much easier.
The hotel here is nice with a lovely garden out back that has a lot of birds. They also have ducks-not like ours-that swim in the pool and walk around. Not sure I want to use the pool, but they are fun to watch! Today we took a tour up to Pretoria and to the Diamond mines. It was quite interesting and it was just us and the guide so that was also nice. No, we didn't buy any diamonds...unfortunately, they did not have a discount store! But they were surely pretty to look at!
Our group leaves at 9AM for the airport to fly to Victoria Falls to start our safari. No internet for awhile, so this will be the last you will hear til we land somewhere that has it. Our group has arrived and looks fun so we are excited. Another OAT group left today for the same trip and they have 15 in their group so we are pleased that our group is only 10.
Thinking of all of you and will report back as soon as we can.
