After we visited that temple, we got back in the boat and went to the Royal Barges museum. Actually, we may have done that before the temple but it doesn't really make any difference! You had to get a pass to take photos inside so I got one so we could all have some photos. The Royal barges were wonderful. They are so ornate and we saw a video that showed them on the river and how exquisite the ceremonies are. They are not used often.
We got back on the boat and finished our tour of the canals and river and made it back to our boat about 4 PM. We came back to the hotel and had a short walking tour around the hotel so we would know where all the important things are like the ATM, money exchange, 7-11 (yes one right across the street that is open 24 hours!) Then we had a nice group meal in the hotel with lots of unusual dishes. Between the lunch and the dinner, we have already tried several new things! We had two interesting fruits at the noon meal and I thought both were good. One is like a red liche nut and the other was another pod fruit that you split open and ate the inside of.
I will have to add some more details of these later. Eleanore is much better than I am about getting the details and I am so thankful for that.
I did see a great bird at the lady's house at lunch. It has blue on it and when it flew , the wings were very blue and striking.
I will stop now and post photos so hope they work. It was an incredible day. I waited to now to post because the internet is $20 for 24 hours so hope to be able to post for tomorrow on this time before we move on. By the way, Ya said he'd help us get a cab to go see the Tiger Temple. We are excited about that.
